The Group Getsemaní came into being in the year 2000, diffusing popular traditional sound and music in Catalonia. They offer two types of performances: concert and dance.
GETSEMANÍ IN CONCERT:
This combines vocal and instrumental pieces, all in the traditional popular Catalan style, arranged and adapted by the group. Many of their pieces come from the Catalan Selva region and surrounding area archives, arrangements from between 1866 and 1895 that were composed by dance group musicians of the period.
These vocal and musical arrangements have been retrieved and classified by Getsemaní, offering really unique performances.
GETSEMANÍ IN DANCE:
The group offers both world dance music and local themes for both pair and group dancing. The group explains and teaches how each dance is done to the participating audience. Most of these dances are for pairs and originate from 19th century Blanes and surrounding area archives.
Their repertoire also encompasses dances from the USA, Israel, Greece, France, Italy, Austria and most of Europe.
Their meticulous research of unusual and unique dance music surprise a most appreciative audience in all their recitals.
